Innsbruck, Austria

Known as the ski capital of Austria and having hosted the Winter Olympics twice, Innsbruck is a budding skiers dream! Within just a two hour drive of the city, you can find some of the most world-class resorts, including Mayrhofen, so you will be well and truly spoilt for choice when choosing where you want to go for your weekend ski! To put this into perspective, you can ski at a different resort every weekend and still have many more to explore!

This is also a great city to live in – oozing in history and culture, with an unbeatable nightlife scene too! If you are looking for a job in the winter sports industry, then Innsbruck could be the place for you. The city is home to the headquarters of a number of large ski and snowboard companies, such as the famous Burton Snowboards – the perfect opportunity to take your passion to new heights!

Chamonix, France

If you want variety then this is the place for you! There is plenty to indulge in here, when it comes to skiing locations – one ski lift ticket can get you access to an incredible 11 different ski zones. Not only that, you will also only be a short car journey away from the Italian and Swiss slopes too – a skiers dream! Chamonix is also a great place if your looking to pursue a career in ski instruction. It is a well known location for training, so earning your mountain guiding qualifications should be a breeze. It is also the center of base jumping and wing suiting, so there are plenty of new sports to keep you occupied.

As well as being the perfect place to practice your winter sports, Chamonix is also a proper working town and this is what makes it so different from many other French ski resorts. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to keep you entertained during the evenings and some of the most beautiful hiking routes to enjoy the unique scenery.

Morzine, France

Morzine is one of the most beautiful ski resorts in the world, and if you are looking for stunning scenery on your doorstep, then look no further. Here, you’ll have 12 resorts in close proximity, in both France and Switzerland, which all offer a great experience for skiers of all abilities. So, if you are thinking of getting your non-skier friends and family onto the slopes, then there is no better place to do so than Morzine.

As far as summer activities are concerned, Morzine has got you covered. This ski town has a very lively cycling scene, where most people travel from place to place by bicycle – not only will you be keeping fit and healthy from cycling up those mountains, but imagine the incredible views too! It is also home to many tennis courts and Europe’s highest waterpark, so there will be a lot of keep you entertained throughout the year.

Klosters, Switzerland

If a traditional mountain village is calling your name, then Klosters sounds like your best bet. The closeby resorts are some of the best for intermediate skiers and are great for all the family. The slower paced vibe here means that you’ll find more leisurely skiers here, rather than the speedier, competitive types.

This village will also keep you occupied in the summer months with some of the most gorgeous walking trails and mountain biking routes. There is also a golf course close by and a great adventure park, which is a great place for children. There are plenty of job opportunities here in the hospitality sector, as there are so many surrounding ski resorts and hotels. The village is popular with members of the Royal Family, so keep you eyes peeled for some famous faces when working around the area.

Montreal, Canada

Although Montreal is not exactly in the mountains itself, it is in very close by to some of the most famous ski resorts in Canada. If you head 45 minutes north of the city to Mont Saint Sauveur, you can endure in some fantastic night skiing – the perfect relief after a stressful day in the office! There are also many other resorts to choose from, both north and south of the city, some of the best being across the border in Vermont and New York – so you will never be bored.

Montreal is a great place to live all year round. When the ski season is over, there will be still be plenty to keep you entertained – from famous film, comedy and jazz festivals to bustling pubs, restaurants and cafes.
