USA’s most popular destinations 2022
The United States of America is one of the most popular international destinations amongst Anglo customers, alongside the likes of Australia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates and many more.
In 2022, we helped to move over 700 customers household belongings to the USA via our shipping and international removal services. To celebrate this, we thought it would be fun to reflect on the top five American destinations from last year.
1. New York
New York came out on tops as our most popular destination in 2022 and we are not really surprised. You may know New York for its iconic sites and skyscrapers, such as Times Square, the Empire State Building and Central Park, however there is so much more to the state which makes it such an attractive place to move to.
New York is our customers’ favourite destination for many reasons. The majority of expats move to the state in search for new jobs opportunities, especially in the financial, legal, medical and scientific sectors. U.S News ranked New York a strong 7 out of 10 on the job market index, based on its thriving industries and wide range of job opportunities available.
2. Los Angeles
Sunny Los Angeles ranked as our second most popular American destination last year and we are extremely jealous of those who moved there! LA is located in the Californian state of the USA and is renowned for being the nation’s film and television hub. The Hollywood sign, famous studios such as Universal and Warner Brothers etc and the Walk of Fame are all located here, but this city has a lot more to offer than just the celebrity lifestyle.
As well as the fame and fortune that comes with LA, the city is also home to a very culturally diverse population. Over the years, people from all over the world have migrated here, meaning it’s ethnic communities have grown and become much more common. For example, in Los Angeles you will find, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Little Bangladesh and Filipino Town, which makes life here extremely exciting.
3. Miami
Coming out in third place is Miami, which is known to be the city which never needs sleep, so it is a great place to live if you a love a good old boogie and enjoy spending your evenings partying into the early mornings. As well as the buzzy nightlife scene right on your doorstep, this city is a great place for expats to move to for many other reasons.
Miami is a very attractive place to live for our customers due to the weather. The sun shines nearly all year round, which is a huge contrast to the freezing cold, frosty spell England is experiencing at the moment. The temperature here usually fluctuates between 70 and 90 degrees and this isn’t effected per season. If you move to Miami, it is safe to say that you will be in for a breath of fresh air!
5. Washington D.C
The political capital, Washington, ranked as our fourth most popular destination in the USA with our customers. You will all know Washington for being home to the White House, which is the official residence and workplace for President Joe Biden. As well as being home to historical leaders, Washington D.C. is also a great place for expats to live.
The city is actually considered to be the third best city in the USA for millennials (Generation Y or X) to live in due to the range of job opportunities, especially if you are considering working in politics. An average 40% of Washington’s population are employed by a government agency, so you will defiantly not be alone!
6. Boston
Our fifth and fabulous US destination is the city of Boston, the most populated city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with over 4.7 million residents. Boston is famous for many reasons and did you know that this is where baked beans originated from?! But… this isn’t all that Boston has going for itself.
Our customers love Boston as it is one of the healthiest cities in the USA, with a high quality of life. According to Deutsche Bank, Boston is the eighth best city in the world based on the quality of life of the residents. The cities strong local economy also contributes to the high quality of life, with a great range of job opportunities up for grabs too.

As well as the above top five, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Houston and Philadelphia were also popular destinations amongst our customers who are moving to the USA.
