International Removals to Canada

Whether you are moving to Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, or Ottawa, Anglo Pacific manages your entire removal from the UK. We handle professional packing at your home, sea freight, Canadian customs clearance, and door-to-door delivery at your Canadian address. With over 40 years of experience in international removals and accreditations from both the British Association of Removers (BAR) and FIDI FAIM, we bring consistent, reliable service to one of the most popular UK emigration routes.

Canada is a vast country spanning two coasts, and the right shipping route for your move depends on your destination province. East Coast destinations such as Toronto and Montreal are served via the Port of Halifax, while West Coast destinations including Vancouver are served directly by the Port of Vancouver. Our team will confirm the most efficient routing for your specific delivery address at the pre-move survey.

Shipping Options for Your Move to Canada

We offer three shipping methods for UK to Canada removals: Groupage, FCL (Full Container Load), and air freight. The right choice depends on the volume of your belongings, your destination province, and your timeline.

Groupage

Groupage means your belongings share a standard shipping container with other customers moving to the same Canadian port. You pay only for the space your consignment occupies, making it the most cost-effective option for smaller moves, one and two-bedroom homes, and furniture-only shipments. Your goods are professionally packed and inventoried before being consolidated at our UK warehouse, then shipped on the next available sailing.

FCL (Full Container Load)

An FCL gives you exclusive use of a 20ft or 40ft shipping container. Your container departs as soon as loading is complete, without waiting for consolidation, and transit times are approximately 2 weeks shorter than Groupage for the same destination. FCL is the practical choice for larger household moves, three-bedroom properties and above, or customers who require a confirmed departure date.

Air Freight

Air freight to Canada takes up to 10 days and is available for priority items or smaller consignments. Because the cost per kilogram is considerably higher than sea freight, air freight is best reserved for documents, valuables, or essential household items you need at your destination before the main shipment arrives.

Canadian Customs Clearance for UK Removals

All personal effects and household goods entering Canada must be cleared by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Most used household goods and personal effects that have been owned and used for at least six months prior to departure can enter Canada duty-free, provided they are for personal use and not for resale. New items purchased specifically for the move, commercial goods, and gifts may attract import duty or taxes.

The primary document for duty-free import of household goods is the CBSA B4 form (Personal Effects Accounting Document). You will also be asked to complete a Goods to Follow (GTF) list if your shipment is sent separately from your arrival in Canada. Anglo Pacific prepares your CBSA customs documentation as part of the removal service and advises you on how to complete your goods declaration accurately.

Removals from Canada to the UK

Anglo Pacific handles removals from Canada back to the UK as well as the outbound journey. Whether you are a returning British expat, a Canadian relocating to the UK, or moving family members to Britain, we manage collection from any Canadian address, sea freight, UK customs clearance, and delivery to your UK home.

Transfer of Residence Relief for UK Returns

If you are returning to the UK after living abroad for at least 12 consecutive months, you may be entitled to Transfer of Residence (ToR) Relief from HMRC. This allows you to import your personal belongings to the UK free of customs duty and VAT, subject to HMRC eligibility criteria. We advise on the documentation required as part of your removal booking and recommend confirming your eligibility with HMRC guidance before your shipment departs Canada.

Transit Times: Canada to UK

Sea freight from Vancouver to the UK takes approximately 10 to 14 weeks by Groupage and 8 to 12 weeks by FCL. From Halifax (serving Toronto and Montreal), Groupage takes approximately 7 to 11 weeks and FCL takes approximately 5 to 9 weeks. Air freight from Canada takes up to 10 days.

What We Can Move to Canada

Anglo Pacific handles the full range of household and personal goods for removals to Canada. From a single room of furniture to a full family home, we tailor the service to your volume.

Household Furniture and Effects

Sofas, beds, wardrobes, dining sets, white goods, and kitchen appliances can all be shipped in a Groupage or FCL container. We use specialist packing materials for fragile items and custom crates where additional protection is required for the sea voyage.

Small and Furniture-Only Shipments

Our Groupage service is well suited to customers shipping furniture or a selection of personal effects rather than a full household. You pay only for the space you use, making Groupage a cost-proportionate option for any size of move.

Vehicles

Vehicles shipped to Canada must comply with Transport Canada safety standards and may require modifications depending on the province of registration. Contact our team for vehicle-specific guidance at the survey stage.

Personal Effects and Excess Baggage

For smaller volumes of personal effects or student belongings, our baggage shipping service to Canada may be a more cost-effective option than a full removal. Contact our team to compare options for your volume.

Service FAQs

Transit times depend on your destination province and whether you choose Groupage or FCL. Toronto (served via Halifax) takes 7 to 11 weeks by Groupage and 5 to 9 weeks by FCL. Vancouver takes 10 to 14 weeks by Groupage and 8 to 12 weeks by FCL. FCL transit times are approximately 2 weeks shorter because the container departs without waiting for consolidation. Air freight to Canada takes up to 10 days. Inland road delivery within Canada adds a further 7 to 21 days where required.

Groupage means your belongings share a standard shipping container with other customers moving to the same Canadian port. You pay only for the space your consignment occupies. It is the most cost-effective option for smaller moves. FCL (Full Container Load) gives you sole use of a 20ft or 40ft container. The container departs as soon as it is loaded, giving a shorter and more predictable transit time. FCL is better suited to larger household moves and customers who need a confirmed departure date. Your account manager will recommend the right option at your pre-move survey.

Yes. Toronto is one of our most frequently served Canadian destinations. Shipments to Toronto travel by sea to the Port of Halifax and are then delivered by road across Ontario, with a Groupage transit time of 7 to 11 weeks and FCL of 5 to 9 weeks. Vancouver is served directly by the Port of Vancouver, with Groupage taking 10 to 14 weeks and FCL taking 8 to 12 weeks. We also serve Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, and all other Canadian cities and provinces.

Most used household goods and personal effects that have been owned for at least six months can enter Canada duty-free through the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), provided they are for personal use and not for resale. You will need to complete the CBSA B4 form (Personal Effects Accounting Document) and, if your goods are shipped separately from your arrival in Canada, a Goods to Follow (GTF) list. New items, gifts, and commercial goods are generally not exempt and may attract import duty. Anglo Pacific prepares your CBSA documentation as part of the removal service.

The cost depends on the volume of your belongings, whether you choose Groupage or FCL, your collection address in the UK, and your destination province. Groupage is the most affordable option for smaller moves. FCL suits larger households and is priced on full container use. East Coast destinations such as Toronto and Montreal are generally more cost-effective to reach than West Coast destinations such as Vancouver due to shorter sea transit distances. We provide itemised, transparent quotes following a pre-move survey with no hidden charges. Request a free quote online or call our Canada removals team.
