Moving from the UK to New Zealand

Moving your goods to the other side of the world is full of exciting prospects, but there is nothing worse than your goods being left in the wrong hands during their transit. It is important to choose a removal company that you can trust and who has years of experience in moving customers to New Zealand. Here at Anglo Pacific, we can help and no removal is too much trouble for us!

We have been moving our customers to New Zealand for over 40 years now so our level of expertise and local knowledge are somewhat unbeatable. Our enthusiastic team are here to make your migration process as easy as possible and to ensure any stress of move day is well and truly taken care of. They will take care of your removal from start to finish,  from surveying your goods to liaising with our destination agents to organise your delivery in New Zealand.

Is it easy to relocate to New Zealand?

Yes – and especially with Anglo Pacific! Like with any international move, there is a certain amount of planning and preparation that needs to be done before you relocate to New Zealand. Most people who are looking to move there long-term will need to apply for a job in NZ and receive a job offer, before they can be granted their visa and permission to move. Once this is all sorted, then you’re good to go!

In terms of the removal itself, the process is fairly straightforward. Here’s how it works:

  1. Get in touch with us and let us know that you’re moving to New Zealand.
  2. Arrange a time that would suit best to do a video survey with one of our international surveyors.
  3. Following the survey, you will then receive the quote for your move to New Zealand. You can also get a quote online using our quick and easy quoting engine.
  4. You will be assigned one of our international Move Managers, who will be your port of call during the entire removals process.
  5. Your Move Manager will book your move in with Operations and will take responsibility for organising the logistics to get your goods to New Zealand.
  6. Our team of packers and porters will arrive on move day to prepare your goods for shipment to New Zealand.
  7. We will liaise with our international agents in New Zealand to arrange for customs clearance and the delivery of your goods to your new home.

Transit options to New Zealand:

To meet your requirements, we can get your goods to New Zealand via two different transit methods – sea or air freight. Both transit methods have their advantages and we will work with you to ensure that the method you choose is best for your move. If you are looking to get your goods to New Zealand quickly, then we recommend using air freight, however, it may be more on the expensive side. Sea freight can take a little longer, but this method is much more cost effective which is good if you have a budget to stick to. Within sea freight, there are a number of container options that you will also be able to choose from.

Get in touch with a member of the team today to discuss your options in greater detail.

As an international shipping company, there is nothing that we don’t ship. However, every country has their own customs regulations of items that are prohibited or restricted for importation and, unfortunately, New Zealand is no exception. So, although we can ship anything, we have to comply with New Zealand’s law – if they allow it, we can ship it!

For a comprehensive list of prohibited and restricted items, get in touch with your move manager or take a look at New Zealand’s Fidi Guide for all the information you need.

Our international removal service to New Zealand can be customised to meet specific customer requirements, from varying budgets to tight time frames. We can send your goods to New Zealand via air freight or sea freight, both of which have their benefits for different customers. Air freight will get your goods to their destination a lot quicker than sea freight, however sea freight is a much more cost effective method.

With sea freight, there are also a range of container options that you can choose from, to ensure that you get the best price for your move. The cheapest container option is to ship your belongings via shared container, but it all depends on the volume that you are moving. We have a regular Groupage service that goes into the likes of Lyttleton, Auckland and Wellington from various ports in the UK.

Alternatively, for larger home removals to New Zealand, we recommend using a dedicated shipping container removal. You will pay one flat rate for a 20ft or 40ft shipping container, which is for your exclusive use and you can fill the container how you wish – even with a vehicle!

Our packing services also vary in costs. You can either choose to pack yourself, or you can let our experienced team of packers do it for you. Our owner pack service is likely to be on the cheaper side, however we take responsibility for the packing then you can be sure your belongings will be safe during transit.

Your move coordinator will be able to discuss our international removals services with you in greater detail and talk through the best options for your requirements for your New Zealand removal.

We are committed in going the extra mile for our customers. We understand how stressful moving to the other side of the world can be, so it’s our mission to make the process as relaxing as possible. One way we do this, is to avoid any hidden costs within our quotations.

Here’s what’s included in your New Zealand removals quote:

  • A personal move manager to guide you through the international removals process
  • Industry-approved packing materials, tea cartons and boxes for your items
  • A team of packers arrive at your home, pack your goods and create an inventory list
  • Loading of items onto our vans, shipping containers or taken for loading on freight plane
  • Send your removal to the New Zealand using your chosen shipping method
  • We organise customs clearances and the completion of required documentation
  • After customs clearances, your removal is delivered directly to your door
  • Assistance with unpacking and disposal of any packing materials

Yes, you will need to declare your items so they can be imported into the country, as they are being shipped unaccompanied. You will need to declare your items using the Unaccompanied Personal Baggage Declaration form. Luckily, New Zealand allow you to complete this form prior to shipment, which helps to speed up the process.

You can find the form here. If you get stuck, we’re more than happy to talk you through the form and answer any questions you have about New Zealand customs information.

Even though our expert packers and movers take great care when handling your goods, you never know what could happen during their journey so it is always a good idea to take out our transit insurance just for peace of mind.

However, if you choose to pack your goods yourself then you won’t be able to take out the insurance policies we offer. We recommend you discussing your available options with your Move Manager and they can run through our insurance policy in greater detail.

Yes you can! Check out our Car Shipping to New Zealand page for all the information you need.
