This is called less container load (LCL). Container shipping to Australia from the UK using LCL,  is the process of shipping your personal and household items within a shipping container that is shared with the goods of other Anglo Pacific customers who are also shipping their belongings to Australia.

LCL is the most economical way of shipping your container to Australia, as the overall container fee is split between other Anglo Pacific customers. Each customer is charged for the cubic volume that their goods consume within the shared container.

This is the ideal container shipping solution if you are just shipping a small home load or just a couple of boxes, and are looking for the most cost-effective option.

This is called full container load (FCL). If you are sending the contents of a large family home, office premise or maybe even shipping a car to Australia, you might want to consider FCL shipping. With FCL, you will be allocated your own shipping container to fill how you desire; this can be household or personal goods and even a vehicle.

The shipping container to Australia cost when using FCL is based on the size of shipping container you choose. Your options for container size are 20ft or 40ft depending on the size of your load and each size has its own fixed rate.

Although FCL container costs to Australia might seem considerably more expensive than LCL, if you are shipping a sizeable load or a vehicle, as well as being the most convenient method, it might also work out to be the cheapest way to ship your belongings.

Within our container shipping service to Australia, we have a variety of options available to cater for our customers priorities and delivery timeframes. These options are all reflected in their different price points.

The price of shipping a container to Australia depends on a whole range of factors such as the transport method, packing services and the combined size of your consignment. This makes it considerably hard to give a rough cost of your shipment to Australia without knowing your requirements.

However, we have a solution. ‘How much will my shipment cost?’ is one of our most asked questions and is usually one of the first questions customers ask us when planning their container shipment to Australia – and, we don’t blame you! The perfect way to find this information out is to get an Anglo Pacific online quote. This is a completely free, non-obligatory service and is very easy to do. You just enter in the details about your container shipment and an accurate price will be calculated.

We can also arrange for a free survey to be done of the goods you are shipping to Australia and a quote to be calculated from the information our international shipping specialist has seen. Our surveys are carried out via video link or telephone consultation, and provide detailed shipping quotes before you even agree to using our services.

We also often get asked ‘how long will my shipment take?’, and again we don’t blame you! You need a rough idea of when your belongings will arrive in Australia to ensure you are planned and prepared for their arrival.

But, shipping times to Australia can vary and, unfortunately, nothing is guaranteed. There are some shipping services that take longer than others, so it depends on the service you choose. Shipping your goods as groupage or LCL for example will take longer than if you’re shipping via FCL, as different customers shipments will need to be consolidated to fill the container.

To give you a very rough idea of the difference, let’s look at Sea Freight. Shipping a container to Australia via FCL could take up to 9 weeks to arrive, whereas a shared container could take up to 16 weeks, if not more. Please be aware that these are approximate time scales to the ports in Australia, and this is not taking customs clearance and final delivery into consideration.

The nature of the shipping world will also have an impact on when your container will arrive in Australia. This is constantly changing, delays clear up and then reappear and so it is very hard to give an estimate. Your Move Manager will be able to provide a more accurate time scale for your container shipment to Australia and you will have access to shipment tracking so you can closely monitor it’s location and status.
